Sahar Akbarian ,Tehran : In Iran's ancient calender every 365 days was called a "year". After arrival of Islam to Iran a calender in which every 355 days was a complete year became popular. But after Farvardin 11th of 1304 and during Malekshah's time some scientists of the time made a calender called "Jalali Malekshahi" calender. In this calender Nowrouz was being started by the beginning of spring and it was from then that Nowrouz became a national celebrations for Iranians.



The number seven is a holy number in all of the cultures and religions. In Iranian civilization the number appears in different symbols. One of these symbols is "Haft-sin" (sin is equivalent of letter S in Persian alphabet). Haft-sin is collection of 7 different things that their names starts with letter S and some other things like fish that has special meanings. Each sin is a symbol of a thing. Senjed is symbol of fertility, red apple is symbol of birth, garlic for cleanness, egg as symbol of race and so on.
